About SAARC Information Center
The 10th SAARC Summit held on 1998 agreed to establish SAARC Information Centre (SIC). The meeting of Information Ministers of SAARC countries held on November 2003 at New Delhi agreed to establish this centre in Nepal and Nepal took proper initiative to establish this centre. After the agreement to establish the center in Nepal on 12th SAARC summit (January 2004, 4-6) held at Islamabad, Nepal started the establishing procedure of SAARC Information Centre. Currently, the centre has been decided to be established at Media Village, Kathmandu Nepal on the Third floor of Department of Information, Government of Nepal. Similarly, Director General of Department of Information has been appointed as the Director of Center.
The SIC will serve as a hub for the projection of SAARC activities as well as SAARC regional events or information and media matter. In the context of modern age of Information Communication Technology, SIC will contribute as a catalyst for the development and promotion of the SAARC region. It will establish information as a power and sources in SAARC region. It will be devoted on the development of cooperation, understanding and friendship in SAARC region. |
